Drug Addiction Treatment Center

The term drug addiction treatment center describes a facility wherein drug addiction is treated through detox and primary addiction treatment in a safe, confidential and supportive treatment environment.

A drug addiction treatment center and/or alcohol rehabilitation program are usually residential treatment environments, wherein the patient remains at the addiction treatment center 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for the duration of the treatment period.  There are also drug addiction treatment centers that are classified as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.  In these latter programs, the patient does not live at the drug addiction treatment center, rather they attend by day and/or evening, returning to their place of residence each day following treatment.  These centers provide many of the same services as a residential drug addiction treatment center or alcohol rehab center, but usually utilize more than one location for treatment, which is obviously less intensive, due to the limited time spent the drug rehab centers each day.

Whether they are inpatient residential alcohol rehabilitation or drug addiction treatment center treatment centers or outpatient treatment programs, most substance abuse treatment centers centers, provide a nurturing, safe and supportive environment in which to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. That said, outpatient drug rehab programs and intensive outpatient drug rehab programs are more suited to individuals who have already completed a higher level of care such as primary residential drug treatment and then ‘transition’ to a less intensive level of care.  They may also be more suited to individuals whose addiction to drugs is less severe, initially, who may not require a total immersion drug rehab center.

Both inpatient and outpatient alcohol rehabilitation programs and drug addiction  treatment centers are critically important to attaining lasting sobriety for a drug or alcohol addict.
