Tramadol Detox
Tramadol is an opioid, used for its analgesic or pain-relieving properties. The drug is used for managing moderate to severe pain and is available in injectable form and as oral medicine.
Tramadol has approximately 10 percent of the potency of morphine. While it may also be effective to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, the use of Tramadol for treating these disorders is unlikely. Other Tramadol-like drugs on the market include Ultram, Zydo, Ultracet (in combination with acetaminophen) and Tramal.
Adverse Effects
The most commonly reported adverse effects of Tramadol include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and sweating.
Tramadol Addiction
While there is some controversy regarding the dependence liability of Tramadol, it is apparent that at least some dependence to this drug does occur. Prolonged use of Tramadol will eventually change the user’s brain in fundamental and lasting ways. This helps to explain why the vast majority of addicts can’t simply quit using Tramadol without first seeking professional help.
Treatment of Tramadol abuse is essential. Drug abuse hijacks the brain's normal pleasure and motivational centers, making drug use the highest priority in a user’s motivational hierarchy. Such changes in brain chemistry are responsible for the user’s absolute compulsion to seek and use drugs, otherwise known as addiction.
Tramadol Detox
Tramadol detox is absolutely critical to accomplish before commencing a Tramodol rehab program. Tramadol detox itself is not a treatment for Tramadol addiction, but it usually helps relieve a user’s withdrawal symptoms while they adjust to a Tramadol-free life.
Tramadol detox can be done conducted in a physician supervised setting. A properly licensed and certified Tramadol detox facility may safely and comfortably manage the detoxification phase of Tramadol rehab.
Thankfully, there are plenty of effective ways of treating Tramadol addiction. But long-term use of the drug should never be abruptly discontinued unless the user is under the supervision of an experienced physician. A doctor can manage a patient’s withdrawal symptoms and help minimize their withdrawal period.
During Miramar Treatment Center’s inpatient addiction treatment, patients are provided physician-assisted Tramadol detox that is regularly monitored by health professionals. We also provide comprehensive Tramadol rehab services at our centers in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach, Calif.
